It feels weird to say that because up until now, I’ve had minor success posting on TikTok.

I use to post office humor content, some which did gain some traction. I once had a funny video go viral and got a million views! But then, my life changed and the office humor wasn’t as much of a muse for me anymore. I tried other content but nothing really hit. Until one day I made a video of making homemade bread with fresh milled flour.

People went absolutely crazy over my grain mill! So I started making videos about it, answering questions as well as making more videos using it. Until I hit the motherload. A simple video of me milling some flour with a text on top that says “When you learn that store bought flour has little to no nutritional value because they have to remove all the good stuff to make it shelf stable…”

Boom.

One point eight million views in less than 24 hours and over 8,000 new followers (and still going strong!). The only thing more insane is the comment section!

It’s a pretty crazy thing to go viral on TikTok, especially when you’re making educational content. My office human video that got a million views was just pure fun. Everyone in the comments was just having a great time. My grain mill video is a different story. It’s the first time I’ve experienced the ugly side of a video going viral. Aside from people commenting that I was fear mongering (not my intention at all!) there were also people who decided it was necessary to comment on my intelligence, my character, and even my appearance (which is interesting because I didn’t show myself in this particular video). Those comments stung more than I anticipated.

Even so, it’s been an incredible experience because the majority of people are just interested in learning more about the grain mill, making bread (my favorite), or sharing their insight on the subject matter! Offering an atmosphere filled with energized people sharing ideas and information. So much fun!

I’m so grateful for this opportunity to share the things I love and all the information I’ve learned through countless hours of research. I hope that through this, you can learn something new and even teach me a thing or two, as I believe we all have things to learn from each other.
